The Nigeria Police Force Heroic Rescue at Ladipo Market Lagos.

In an exemplary display of precision and professionalism, a specially trained unit of the Nigeria Police Force recently neutralized a group of nine heavily armed kidnappers at Ladipo Market, Lagos, without any civilian casualties. This success shows the force's commitment to ensuring public safety, even in the most challenging and dangerous situations.

Ladipo Market, also known as Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market, is situated in the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State. Known for its bustling activities and large population, the market has become a hub for political campaigns and social awareness gatherings. The market, located at Ladipo Street, Papa Ajao, Mushin, Lagos, is the largest market for buying vehicle parts in Africa, attracting customers from Nigeria and neighboring countries like Ghana and Ivory Coast.

The kidnappers, driven by the lucrative potential of the market, attempted to exploit this bustling area for their nefarious activities. However, they were met with the swift and decisive response of the Nigeria Police Force's highly trained professional snipers. The operation, which involved a tactical assault, was carried out with absolute precision, ensuring the safety of all civilians present.

Mr. Hundeyin, a superintendent of police, detailed the encounter: “The kidnappers, who were caught unawares, would not give up easily as they engaged the police officers in a shoot-out. They, of course, bowed to the superior firepower of the police. Nine of them were neutralized while two escaped with gunshot injuries.”

The police recovered several weapons from the suspects, including four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semi-automatic pistols, nine AK-47 magazines, and three walkie-talkies. Additionally, two operational vehicles, a black Toyota 4Runner, and a blue Lexus RX350, were seized. The force is continuing investigations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

This operation at Ladipo Market is a prove of the Nigeria Police Force's dedication to protecting its citizens. Despite the market's busy streets and the presence of numerous civilians, the police managed to neutralize the threat without any collateral damage. This remarkable achievement highlights the force's effectiveness in handling high-stakes situations and its unwavering commitment to maintaining public order.

The success at Ladipo Market is part of a broader series of breakthroughs by the Nigeria Police Force in identifying and apprehending gangs of kidnappers and armed robbers. These efforts are crucial in curbing crime and ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.

The Nigeria Police Force's operation at Ladipo Market demonstrates their capability and professionalism in handling dangerous situations. The neutralization of nine kidnappers without any civilian casualties is a very significant victory for law enforcement and a reassurance to the public of the police's dedication to their safety.  A DECADE OF SILENCE: HOW NIGERIA’S POLICE FORCE LEFT APPROXIMATELY 1,850 GRADUATE OFFICERS IN A PROLONGED PROMOTION PROCESS EXCLUSIVE REPORT By Daniel Nduka Okonkwo Tonight, while the nation sleeps, heroes in uniform stand guard, our police officers, the living shield between chaos and safety. Their courage is not a favour but a duty fulfilled with sacrifice. Ensuring that such service is matched with fair and transparent career progression remains essential to institutional integrity and morale. A duly initiated upgrading exercise in 2015 raised the expectations of nearly two thousand educated police officers. Nearly a decade later, according to available accounts and officer testimonies, the process remains unresolved, even as their peers have advanced and reform discussions continue within the sector. In June 2015, the Nigeria Police Force issued an official wireless signal to officers across commands, inviting graduate Inspectors and rank and file personnel who had acquired un...

With Government Backing, Lingering Questions Remain: When Will Brekete Family Smart City Be Ready? By Daniel Nduka Okonkwo Real estate development, whether residential, commercial, or mixed-use, is rarely a simple undertaking. It demands structured planning, strict legal compliance, financial discipline, and consistent on-site execution. From land acquisition and project phasing to infrastructure delivery and final habitation, each stage must be carefully coordinated to translate vision into reality. The Brekete Family Smart City Estate, an ambitious private-led housing project initiated by renowned broadcaster and activist Ahmed Isa, was conceived with that same vision: to deliver a modern, inclusive, and smart urban community for ordinary Nigerians. Yet, more than a decade after subscriptions began, the project remains largely undeveloped, raising persistent questions among subscribers: when will it finally be ready? Subscriptions for the Brekete Family Smart City Estate opened betwe...

Over 200 Nigerian politicians, governors, senators, security chiefs, senior civil servants, and other politically connected individuals have stashed at least $7 billion in Dubai properties across at least 1,824 traced assets, making Nigeria the second-largest source of foreign property buyers in Dubai after India By Daniel Nduka Okonkwo The $7 billion figure is drawn from three separate documented investigations spanning more than a decade. A 2012 report established that Nigerians had invested up to $6 billion in Dubai real estate over the preceding three years alone. The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, drawing on the C4ADS Sandcastles property dataset, subsequently identified 800 Dubai properties linked to Nigerian politically exposed persons, valued at approximately $400 million as of 2020. By 2024, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project’s landmark Dubai Unlocked investigation, conducted with more than 70 international media partners, had traced that figure ...
